YMCA Dulverton Group are delighted to announce that they have joined forces with their Carbon Partner, Auditel, to deliver on their strategic objective of reaching Net Zero.

YMCA Dulverton Group is a youth-focused community charity, providing a variety of services across North Somerset, Somerset and Devon. From Housing, Support and Training to Early Years, Youth Work and Social Enterprise hospitality venues, the charity has a positive impact on individuals and communities across the region.

Martin Hodgson, Chief Executive YMCA Dulverton Group comments. “It is important for YMCA Dulverton Group to understand its carbon footprint so we can plan our route toward net zero.

As part of our services to the community, we are provider of supported housing for over 268 young people who want to know what we are doing to reduce our footprint, and we should be able to tell them. Having young people involved in the process has been key for us.

Early Years Education is equally important to us and ensuring that our legacy is a better world for the children we care for is imperative. Understanding how we can improve our performance toward net zero, has involved both children and staff. Making sure that our steps along the way are the right ones and the ones which have the greatest impact.

YMCA Dulverton Group has for many years looked to alternatives in our approach to delivering services, and ensured that in doing so, we consider our impact on the environment, whether this through omission of single use plastics in our social enterprise hotels, sourcing our food and consumables locally or installation of efficient energy solutions across our properties, this work with Auditel will allow us to move to the next stage, of implementation.”

Gillian Gibbon, Carbon Auditor at Auditel added. “I am delighted to be working again with YMCA Dulverton Group. I have worked with them for many years helping ensure they are getting the very best value for money from their suppliers and now I look forward to working with the team to help them achieve the first step in their journey of an industry recognised standard of verified carbon neutrality.

Once this is in place, we can help them find and implement low carbon technologies and supplier as part of their route to net zero. Their ambition and commitment to minimise the impact they have on the environment is excellent. Combined with the pride they take regarding their legacy makes them a genuine champion of sustainability in the charity sector.”
