While there is no specific legislation beyond standard environmental responsibilities, Lifetime Group recognises the growing expectation to align with the UK’s legally binding Net Zero 2050 target. They are proactively responding to increased stakeholder focus on environmental reporting and sustainable decision-making across operations and procurement.
Lifetime Group has already begun a number of decarbonisation projects including:
- Removing its company vehicle fleet
- Moving its IT to cloud based
- Launched an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
- Started delivering training sessions online (where appropriate) and holding more meetings virtually
Zara Idris continues to provide insight into the timeframes Lifetime Group is working towards, “Based on our 2023/24 baseline, our near-term targets are to achieve a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Our long-term target is to achieve a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2050.”
