Auditel Cost Management Consultant, Chris Baker, is in the news again with his racing activities. From Friday 12th July to Sunday 14th July, he took part in the annual Long Course Weekend, hosted in Pembrokeshire. This is one of the most difficult triathlons in Wales, in which talented competitors from the UK and the world take part. It includes a number of IRONMAN UK athletes and serves as the perfect preparation and build up for the ‘IRONMAN Wales’ event in September.

The Wales Swim’ covering 2.4 mile was completed on Friday. On Saturday, ‘The Wales Sportive’, a run of 112 miles in undulating Welsh countryside, took place. To finish the weekend, the athletes accomplished the 26.2 miles of ‘The Wales Marathon’, which is quickly establishing itself as a fantastic event in its own right.

On 21st July, Chris then took part in ‘The National Lottery Anniversary Run’. This was a 5-mile course traversing the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before reaching a thrilling conclusion on the track inside the Stadium. The event celebrated the funding of the lottery for our Olympic and Paralympic events last year. Chris ran the 5 miler and then another 1.5 miler with his children. Both of their races finished in the Stadium itself.

This weekend, Chris will be competing in ‘The London Triathlon’. This is the world’s largest, which attracts passion and determination from over 13,000 triathletes across two days. He is participating in the longest distance race – ‘The Olympic Plus’, which consists of a 1,500 metre swim, 80km bike ride and 10km run.

Chris says: “This is all to prepare for ‘Ironman Wales’, which takes place on Sunday 8th September at Tenby. The event includes a swim of 2.4 miles, a bike ride of 112 miles and a run of 26.2 miles. I am taking part to raise funds for Scope, the charity that supports disabled people, their families and particularly children in their early years. Contributions will be gratefully received via my fund-raising page. I will be reporting my progress in this event on this site, so do watch this space and wish me luck!”
