GREEN ELECTRICITY FROM THE GRID

Welcome to Auditels White paper on the GREEN ELECTRICITY FROM THE GRID

The world emits 50 bln tonnes of greenhouse gases each year.  By far the biggest contributor is energy production and consumption (73% of total GHG).  The UK’s annual electricity consumption is approximately 312TWh spilt roughly equally between residential use, non-residential buildings and industrial processes.

UK renewable energy comes from four main sources: wind (26.8%), bioenergy (5.2%), solar (4.4%) and hydroelectric/tidal (1.8%).  Decarbonisation of the UK grid has made good progress – from 2010 to 2023 average grid emissions have fallen from 500gCO2e/kWh to 200gCO2e/kWh.
