On the 18th of April 2016, The Carbon Trust will launch its new Green Business Fund.
The fund, worth £7m, will allow SME’s (<250 employees) to replace out of date, inefficient systems and equipment and ultimately improve business efficiency and productivity.
New research undertaken by The Carbon Trust found that almost half of senior decision makers within UK based SME’s are concerned about the amount they spend on energy costs while 37% of businesses nationwide would like to take action to improve their energy efficiency.
The Green Business Fund will be available on a first come first serve basis and in addition to capital investment can be used for training, cost saving assessments, implementation help.
Business can apply for funding to cover up to 15% of an efficiency project / equipment replacement up to a maximum of £10,000.
Funding could cover capital costs of energy efficient lighting, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and energy efficiency controls.
Hugh Jones, Managing Director, Advisory, at the Carbon Trust says:
“Our experience of working with thousands of companies across the UK indicates that year-on-year savings of 20% to 30% can be delivered through action on energy efficiency. We’d encourage smaller companies to apply to make the most of the fund on offer in order to realise significant savings on their bottom line.”
