Graysons are a boutique caterer operating at the upper end of the marketplace, across public visitor attractions; cultural institutions; commercial events venues; within cafés, restaurants and wine bars across the high street; premium workplaces; and corporate dining.

They are market leading in their sustainability approach, ensuring their client sites are ahead of the curve. They work with a carefully curated selection of hyper-local specialists, producers with Royal warrants, industry innovators, and accredited carbon neutral, heritage and biodiverse farms across the UK.

Graysons has been named by Slow Food as ‘the most sustainable caterer in the UK’ for the fifth year running – an accolade they are immensely proud of and work tirelessly to retain. As part of their environmental and social sustainability, they build lasting and meaningful relationships with their customers, employees and local communities.

Their approach and drive to achieving net zero emissions and actively contributing to 1.5°C climate target is an incredibly important part of their operations. Their approach is committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Accord on climate change.

Emma Perry, Head of Business Development and CSR states, “While it is important to deliver front and back-of-house systems that measure as a means to reduce carbon impact, we fully believe that our approach must be more overarching than just attaining data to achieve accreditation.”

A big part of maintaining their position as ‘the most sustainable cater in the UK’ is their ethical and all-encompassing approach to reduced carbon impact.

Some examples of their processes for reducing greenhouse gas emissions include:

  • Sourcing the finest sustainable produce and products from local suppliers.
  • Offering clients the option to host carbon-neutral events.
  • Maintaining a standard of 90% fresh, seasonal foods across all their sites, as dictated by their quality audits.
  • Shifting a significant proportion of their meat purchasing to regenerative farms, allowing them to ensure a reduction in carbon emissions.
  • Minimising food waste as much as possible, encouraging a culture of innovative recycling, and eliminating emissions associated with waste transportation and landfill.

In 2024, Graysons launched a partnership with Auditel to support their journey to net zero, who they selected due to their in-depth approach.

They are in the process of proactively monitoring, reporting and target-setting their greenhouse gas emissions. Auditel deliver on their internal verification standard which is run by ISO-accredited auditors within their business.

Perry continues, “Auditel are able to support us in creating contract bespoke strategies and reporting for both our own and our clients’ individual requirements, keeping our approach at the forefront of industry progression”.

“Proactive immersion in local, regenerative farming and UK sourcing practices will help protect our planet for future generations.”
