Energy Update for 10th April 2018

Last week we saw prices falling a little bit for the first time. The factors contributing to this were some forecasted warm weather. L&G deliveries were on the up, and we also saw some falling oil and carbon prices particularly after the carbon spikes we saw the week before. The oil prices were affected by President Trump’s threats of tariffs on China. However, by the end of the week we started to see prices for carbon and oil taking up a trend that’s continued this morning and along with a tight gas system, we begin to see prices now recovering, unfortunately.

Looking forward, once again, we can only hope that the warmer weather will help ease some of these pressures but with uncertainty on the global economic scale and the U.S. and China at each other’s throats, who knows which way it will go.
