Geotech UK now have a fantastic, outsourced procurement function

Upon identifying the need to take a closer look at the company’s costs and intrigued by the offering of Auditel’s overhead reduction services, Finance Director, Owen Bishop, had a meeting with David Kendall in which cost saving areas were highlighted.

“Initially we were sceptical about the viability or relevance of the offer, especially as we believed we already had most cost areas such as energy and telephone services under good control and that some of the other areas discussed were relatively low spend” explains Owen. “We couldn’t have been more wrong.”

Upon the preliminary meeting, Auditel were given the opportunity to carry out some work, this was based on a ‘no-win no-fee’ basis. “From this tentative beginning, we turned from sceptics to advocates in a fairly short space of time” says Owen, where they now engage Auditel on a fixed retainer working across a range of projects.

These projects went from areas such as stationery and progressed into categories including courier costs, printing, gas procurement and packaging. In each case, Geotech reported that Auditel did a thorough, well documented and professional job, where it is now intended that the relationship will be maintained for at least another 18 months and with a possible view of becoming permanent.

The cost savings achieved have more than justified the fees that have been paid by the client and they believe that the service also allowed them to pursue projects that they would not otherwise have had the time or resources to carry out alone. Auditel are therefore acting as an extension of the purchasing function of the company, organising specific tendering exercises and having a system in place to ensure supplier performance is monitored. Scheduled re-tendering is also arranged when it is required.

Delighted by the success that Geotech has been provided with by Auditel, Owen says “We have no hesitation in recommending Auditel and we would be more than happy to speak to anyone who wishes to learn more about our experiences in using their service.”
