Challenge Packaging is delighted to announce that with the help of their Carbon Partner, Auditel, they are a now one of the first UK organisations to have delivered on their objective of becoming Verified Carbon Neutral to PAS 2060.
Martin Coppard, Managing Director, comments, “I am thrilled to share a momentous achievement for Challenge Packaging Limited, we have officially achieved Verified Carbon Neutrality. This accomplishment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility. At Challenge Packaging, we recognise the urgent need to address climate change, and our journey toward reducing our carbon emissions is a crucial step for us in reducing our environmental footprint.
Through the help of our partnership with Auditel and NQA assessors we have meticulously assessed and measured our carbon emissions, which have been calculated to be 1508.88 tCO2e, and achieved PAS2060 certification. During the process we have also scoped out innovative and sustainable practices for the next 3 years and invested in projects that offset our remaining carbon impact. This milestone is not just a checkbox on our sustainability roadmap; it’s a reflection of our dedication to making a positive impact on the planet. By achieving carbon neutrality, we have significantly reduced our carbon emissions, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for us all.
Our commitment doesn’t stop here. We will continue to explore and implement initiatives that promote sustainability across all aspects of our operations. We believe that every organisation has a responsibility to be a steward of the environment, and we are proud to lead by example. I want to express my gratitude to every member of the Challenge Packaging team whose hard work and dedication have made this achievement possible. Your commitment to sustainability has not only elevated our company but has also positioned us as a leader in our industry. To our customers, partners, and stakeholders, thank you for your continued support. Together, we are making a meaningful difference, and we invite you to join us on this journey toward a more sustainable and resilient future.”
Carbon Auditor Ian Hopping, comments, “Challenge Packaging has always been a manufacturer of inherently sustainable products that can be recycled, making them a strong partner to any of their customers who care about the environment. They are not just interested in short-term commercial success, but as a family company, they have their eyes set firmly on the future thinking very much about the generations to come. Ultimately, they want to be judged by their actions and what they have now achieved gaining PAS 2060 Verification proves that they deliver on their promises.
Challenge Packaging believe that acting sustainably and reducing their carbon emissions is the right way to go as they believe the economy and ecology are intrinsically linked. I look forward to helping them further decarbonise their business as we drive
towards Net Zero. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the whole Challenge Packaging team. Their dedication and unity on this goal have been inspiring.”
Martin Coppard concludes, “We believe that we have a responsibility as a business to our customers, our employees and future generations to reduce and remove as many of the carbon emissions generated from our activities as possible. We are very keen to make what we do transparent and continue to remain a strong and reliable partner for them in the future.”
