Welcome

Turn carbon pressure into disciplined commercial advantage.

We help organisations execute the transition decisions they know they cannot avoid — with cost clarity, operational control, and decisions they can defend.  Operational discipline  –  Cost clarity  –  Defensible execution.

Our Mission — The Standard we set for ourselves:  Carbon transition is increasingly shaping regulation, capital allocation, and operational performance. The challenge is not defining ambition — it is executing it with clarity, control, and confidence.

What we do: We help organisations embed carbon transition into cost structures, operating models, risk frameworks, and decision-making processes — ensuring responses are practical, commercially grounded, and defensible.

Who we work with: We work with organisations in regulated, capital-intensive, and operationally complex environments. Our core focus includes financial services, insurance, digital assets, and digital infrastructure, alongside organisations in shipping, logistics, and higher education. We also support clients across industry where transition requirements are increasingly embedded within supply chains, cost structures, and regulatory frameworks.

Sectors we serve:
Financial Services  ·  Insurance  ·  Digital Assets  ·  Digital Infrastructure  ·  Shipping & Logistics  ·  Higher Education  ·  Industrial Supply Chains

Where we are different

Execution, not advisory: We do not stop at recommendations. We work alongside leadership teams to ensure delivery — and we measure ourselves by outcomes, not outputs.

Commercially self-aware: We start by identifying inefficiencies across your cost structures, processes, and operating model. In many cases, what we uncover funds the transition work itself — turning a cost concern into a disciplined investment.

Operational discipline — not ideology: Our background is decades of operating, restructuring, and optimising complex, highly regulated environments. We are not here to sell green credentials. We are here to help you run a tighter, stronger, more defensible business.

Our Approach

  • Execution over advocacy — we embed into delivery, not just planning
  • Capital discipline — linking transition directly to financial outcomes
  • Risk-adjusted decision making — embedding transition into risk frameworks
  • Governance and accountability — clear ownership and oversight at every level
  • Operating model readiness — ensuring your organisation can actually deliver

The Problem We Solve: Carbon transition is too often approached as a reporting exercise — resulting in fragmented data, unclear ownership, and a weak link to cost and operations. Ambition is announced. Execution is deferred. The gap between statement and performance widens. We help organisations close that gap. From fragmented effort to controlled execution.

The Outcome: Organisations that have worked through this with us come out stronger — with a cleaner cost base, clearer accountability, and a transition plan that holds up under scrutiny from boards, regulators, and investors.

Not statements.      Evidence.

  • Understand how they operate — with precision, not assumption
  • Control their cost base — creating room to act and invest
  • Defend their decisions — to boards, regulators, and investors
  • Execute with confidence — because capability has been built, not borrowed

Well-run businesses endure. They employ. They serve. And over time, they contribute — not through statements, but through disciplined execution.  We built Averion for people who believe the same thing — and who want to do work that lasts. If that is you, we would like to hear from you.

Start with a conversation. We will help you understand where you are, what matters most, and what needs to happen next — clearly, commercially, and without pretence.

ABOUT

Managing the financial reality of the carbon transition.

Michael is a strategy and operational excellence adviser with over 25 years’ experience in global banking, where he held senior operational leadership roles within Capital & Financial Markets divisions across the UK, Europe, US, APAC and the Middle East.

He specialises in helping organisations address emerging regulatory requirements, rising operating costs and operational inefficiencies linked to energy use and infrastructure intensity. His work focuses on applying financial discipline, operational rigour and strategic clarity to issues that increasingly sit at the intersection of cost management, risk oversight and regulatory reporting.

Michael works with leadership teams to identify hidden cost exposure, strengthen operational efficiency and respond pragmatically to the growing regulatory and reporting expectations surrounding carbon and net-zero commitments.

Managing the financial reality of the carbon transition.

Szidonia brings to Averion a career defined by one consistent quality: the ability to build, lead, and improve organisations under pressure — and make it look deliberate.

With nearly a decade as Chief Executive of a leading fashion retail concessionaire operating across Eastern Europe — representing global brands in one of the most operationally demanding and commercially unforgiving retail environments — Szidonia built the kind of track record that speaks for itself: 50% growth in customer footfall, a 20% uplift in overall business performance, and a record of negotiating supplier terms, executing marketing strategies, and developing people that delivered sustained profitability across multiple locations.

More recently, and following relocation to the UK, she has led operations within the hospitality sector — managing a 120-room property and a team of over 30 — maintaining a 95% guest satisfaction rating while driving measurable gains in productivity, retention, and revenue. The sector has changed. The standards have not.

At Averion, Szidonia applies that experience to the organisations we work with — bringing a practitioner’s understanding of what operational discipline looks like in the real world, and the credibility that comes from having delivered it.

Our team is in constant training, there are always new things to learn as the industry develops and improves, we make sure we are at the forefront of this, as a member of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute and our close relationship with BSI, we always stay ahead of the curve on standards and methodologies.

Auditel’s internal verification department check every inventory that we produce, this is undertaken by one of Auditel’s member firms that have been trained in verification and all are conducted under ISO14064-3 the standard for verification. We look forward to working with you.

SCR
Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) was introduced in 2019, as legislation to replace the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Scheme. SECR requires obligated companies to report on their energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions within their financial reporting for Companies House.
ESOS
Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out ESOS assessments every 4 years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.
Carbon Footprint Reporting
A credible CFR that meets PAS 2060 specification must meet certain professional standards. Producing a poor-quality CFR can put your brand at risk. With our consulting team, your CFR will be prepared in line with all the requirements of the BSI PAS 2060 specification.
Carbon Reduction Planning
Effective carbon reduction planning will deliver cost savings to your business by putting in place a short, medium, and long-term strategy to reduce your Greenhouse Gas emissions. Our approach will prioritise these projects with fully costed business cases. Where capital investment is required, alternative funding sources will be considered.

Carbon Offset Purchasing
Once practical emission reduction has occurred, you might want to consider the purchase of carbon offsets from a provider of high-quality voluntary carbon offset projects. Auditel’s understanding of this fast-moving marketplace combined with almost 30 years of procurement experience will ensure you acquire the right Carbon Credits at the right price.

ISO 14068-1 / PAS 2060 Verification
If you decide you want to gain formal verification of your carbon neutral claims, then ISO 14068-1 / PAS 2060 carbon neutral verification is next and Auditel will assist you all the way. This includes the preparation of your Qualifying Explanatory Statement (QES), price comparisons and selection from different verification bodies and finally, marketing assistance to get the most from your achievement of carbon neutrality.
