Left to right: Barry Cutler, Auditel Consultant and Allen Chapman, Director of JenCare Homes Ltd
Allen & Jennifer Chapman, owners of JenCare Homes Ltd, were introduced to Auditel Consultant Barry Cutler at a business networking event last autumn. Attracted by their no-win, no-fee approach and anxious to keep his energy costs under control, Allen & Jennifer invited Auditel to take a look at their electricity expenditure.
Allen says, “Trying to keep costs under control is a constant battle.”
The first thing Auditel found when looking into the Electricity costs was that JenCare had recently been rolled into another 12 month contract at a very uncompetitive rate. After some renegotiation with the incumbent supplier Auditel managed to secure a new two year deal which gave JenCare a massive 32% reduction saving them £7,500 a year.
Allen smiles, “I hadn’t known what to expect from Auditel and I was very pleased indeed. This money can now be put to much better use, helping towards the cost of maintaining and improving the facilities for the residents.”
Auditel are now looking into other cost areas including Oil and Gas. Annual savings of 23% have already been secured for Oil. Gas costs (they use LPG Propane), are being analysed and other possible fuels with lower carbon energy sources (including wind, solar and heat pumps) are being considered.
A lot of work has also gone into investigating energy efficiency, including loft insulation, wall insulation, energy efficient lighting, movement sensors and fresh
air heat exchangers. Grants and loans for low carbon heating and lighting are also being researched. Other cost analyses such as training for staff in hygiene control, and purchasing of food will follow.
Jennifer concludes, “Having Auditel and Barry on board is like having an additional team member without the hassle of employer legislation. We’ve already started to rely on their expertise on a day-to-day basis. All our energy bills are copied and sent to them for analysis and it’s comforting to know that our costs are being constantly monitored.”
Savings Achieved:
Electricity – 32% Saving
Oil – 23% – Saving
