Left to right: Chris Gordon, Auditel Consultant and George Cooke, Finance Director, Brunelcare
Brunelcare’s Finance Director, George Cooke had previous experience of working with Auditel when he was the Finance Director at St Peter’s Hospice in Bristol. So when Auditel Consultant Chris Gordon contacted him, he was keen to see what savings could be made on Brunelcare’s gas and electricity expenditure.
Brunelcare’s large estate of electricity supply points meant that tenders were complicated and time consuming so it was a relief to the charity to hand this responsibility over to the specialists at Auditel. Chris began by conducting careful analysis and investigating the charity’s non-half-hourly (NHH) and half-hourly (HH) electricity expenditure. After tendering the market Chris achieved a £18,000 saving on HH base costs as well as a 13% saving on the NHH base costs.
Chris also noticed that there were severe irregularities in the electricity suppliers’ billing. After significant negotiations over a period of eighteen months, Chris agreed substantial rebates for Brunelcare from previous incorrect bills and in doing so achieved a staggering total saving of £104,000. Chris then moved his attention to Brunelcare’s gas charges where he found savings of 1%. This means that to date the total savings achieved for Brunelcare is £105,500.
Savings Achieved:
£86,000 Savings for non-half hour Electricity
£18,000 Savings for half hour Electricity
£1,500 Savings for Gas
Total Saving: £105,500
