After five months of build-up, promotion and industry chatter, the shortlist for the prestigious Energy Live Consultancy Awards was released on 7th May. David Powell from an Auditel office in Leeds, has been nominated for the category ‘SME: Most Trusted Consultancy’ sponsored by Gazprom Energy UK.
David says: “With such strong competition, we are honoured to be a finalist in this category. The trust of our customers and partners is integral to the success of our business and is at the very heart of everything we do here.”
The criteria for this award included the need to ensure that they have a set of values to which they adhere, embed those values in the dealings they have with both customers and suppliers, are able to communicate these and can demonstrate examples of it working in practice.
Transparency, accuracy, fairness and clarity of terms and conditions are all key components upon which the judges will base their final decision. Auditel’s strength in these areas is one of the things which impressed the judges so far. The focus on cost management, not cost cutting is what David Powell’s Team hope will stand them in good stead with the judges.
The shortlist of finalists will now be sent to the judging panel. This will be made up of Angela Knight, CEO of Energy UK, Louise Kingham, CEO of the Energy Institute, David Porter, ex-CEO of AEP and the former editor of Utility Week, Janet Wood. They will be joined by Chair of Judges Mervyn Bowden on June 12th, to whittle down the nominees to find the winners. They will be announced at the awards ceremony on June 27th.
David Powell’s team of five specialists is based in the centre of Leeds. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001 and post qualification, worked for a FTSE250 Logistics Firm and a Global Management Consultancy before joining Auditel, an award winning national consultancy network.

The 13th Auditel Supplier Conference and Exhibition is due to take place on 7th June 2013 at Trent Vineyard, Nottingham.
This annual event is an invaluable opportunity designed specifically for our many Auditel consultants and top quality suppliers to meet face-to-face and enhance knowledge and understanding of each others’ services in a way that adds real value to our client offering. Whilst independence is central to the Auditel offering, experience has proven that establishing the right relationships with the right kind of suppliers means our clients really do benefit from great deals and service.
We anticipate this to be the biggest and best Auditel Supplier Exhibition ever. Up to 40 market leaders will present their unique offerings to our largest ever gathering of cost and purchase management specialists under one roof.
Our partner companies for the event include, as always, major energy companies, telecoms providers, office supplies, and a wide range of business services from insurance to finance, and just about everything the modern business needs. Companies attending recognise the value of meeting with our large network of specialists who together represent over 3500 businesses in the UK.

The most highly attended and successful Auditel National Conference ever, took place at Marriott Forest of Arden, Birmingham on Friday 9th November in the presence of over 150 Auditel Consultants. The theme this year was Increasing Value in Your Business.
Auditel Managing Director, Chris Allison reported: “Today, we celebrate another year of growth and success in our network for the eighth year in a row. With this growth, our turnover has grown steadily. The collaborative nature of Auditel has allowed us to make quantum leaps forward. As long as we continue to embrace change with courage, careful planning and action, our futures will remain secure.”
There has been a great deal to celebrate this year. Auditel was awarded the HSBC sponsored British Franchise Association’s Outstanding Franchisee Support Award for 2012. The award is only open to brands that are full members of the bfa, through successful accreditation and who put standards, ethics and best practice at the top of their agenda. These franchise awards are seen as the industry’s top accolade.
Auditel also has affiliates that renew their franchises after 5, 10 and now 15 years due to consistently achieving their financial goals.
During the black-tie dinner, a number of awards were presented to those franchisees who have distinguished themselves during 2012.
Chris Allison summed up the Conference and another momentous year: “Today’s agenda was crafted to provide you with ideas to move your businesses forward next year. I am sure our workshops and key-note speakers will have helped you in preparing for 2013.”

Auditel the Uk’s leading cost and purchase consultancy is very pleased to announce its new client agreement with Allia Ltd, the innovative Cambridge-based charitable social investment intermediary that creates investment vehicles to raise finance for organisations delivering social impact.
Allia Ltd engaged Auditel to provide a specialised cost and purchase management service and to examine the opportunities for reducing their non-strategic overhead costs.
Speaking about the new partnership, Ron Yellon said:
“We are delighted to become cost management partners for Futurebusiness, an Allia initiative, which specialises in helping those with a social or environmental mission. Its enterprise support agency brings together all the essentials every organisation needs – business advice, coaching, impact measurement and affordable workspace.
Initially working on electricity and gas, this work will reinforce the objective of offering best value to Future Business tenants, and provide additional valuable management information and resource to increase management’s control and peace of mind, all without diverting proceeds from public benefit.”
We have 3 Auditel Partner Programme Workshops taking place this week. These meetings with our affiliates are taking place in Birmingham, Winchester and Manchester.
The Auditel Partner Programme adds a new dimension to client relationships. The programme presents opportunities for Auditel Affiliates to achieve their desired client growth goals. Client relationships are enhanced and strengthened and a true ‘Win-Win’ between Partner and Affiliate is achieved.

We have just finished another week of 3 Regional Meetings, which took place around the country and involved over 130 members of the Auditel network.
The Auditel Regional Meetings give those Affiliates that specialise in specific areas, the opportunity to provide the network with an overview of how they operate with their suppliers and clients.
These meetings are also a great opportunity for our suppliers to meet with our network, discuss new technologies and industry trends and work strategically to provide a future working arrangement that benefits the supplier, our clients and ourselves.
Our Affiliates value the contact with their colleagues. Some find them a key part of their Auditel business, a forum to keep abreast of projects within the network and they are undeniably a great support for those that are new to the network.

Leeds-based Auditel cost and purchase management consultant David Powell is going up in the world! A few days after his 35th birthday on September 17th, he is planning to trek to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro – 19,341 ft above sea level. This is Africa’s highest peak and entails a climb from 5000 ft to nearly 2o, 000 ft in just six days.
David, who has never done much more than walk up and down Sheffield’s peaks as a student many years ago, will be in a party of 13 trekking for up to 10 hours a day for the children’s charity, Candlelighters. Each of the team has an individual target of £2500, with a hoped-for overall total of £50,000.
Candlelighter, also based in Leeds, was established in 1976. It is a charity formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer and the medical staff who treat them. The charity provides essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.
Kilimanjaro is sometimes seen as the ‘easiest’ of the seven continental peaks, because there is no technical climbing with ropes or crampons. However, it is still a great challenge and at the higher levels, the air carries only 30% of the normal oxygen content.
